Home Is Where The Heart Is

We just returned from our Christmas trip to St. Louis. This year, I noticed a funny thing in my words: before we left SoCal, we were preparing to fly to StL for the week, and I kept saying to Meg, "I'm really looking forward to going home."

Then, at the end of the Christmas week, when we were in StL preparing to fly back to SoCal, I also said to Meg, "I'm really looking forward to going home."

Home truly is where the heart is. My heart is in both places. I have family and friends in both places. The Los Angeles area. The St. Louis area. Both are home to me. I am not torn between them because my heart is at home in both places.

What an amazing blessing from the Lord! I am both amazed and humbled that the Lord would be so gracious as to give me two homes, both of which I love and adore. I feel as though I am the most blessed man in the world. Lord, you overwhelm me with your outpouring of grace upon my life.

To all my loved ones: parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and all of my dear friends that are so close to my heart --- you are all my home.

Thank you, ALL, for allowing me to come home to you.

  2. sniff.... sniff...where's a kleenex. I'm so thankful you are at home and not longing to be somewhere else. That is a tremendous blessing and you are wise to recognize it.

  4. I was thinking that you may be suffering from schizophrenia, seriously it was good to see you. Who could blame you for wanting to leave the cold, snow and wind here for the balmy breezes of S CA?

  5. Dallas... Aaron and I now have four "homes"... everywhere God has taken us has become "home"... a little confusing, but a great blessing! Wendy M.

  6. I've always lived in the St. Louis area but I get a similar feeling when I see certain people after a long separation. The word, however, is "family". You and Meg are not my family in the natural but when I see your faces... my heart melts.

  7. WOW Dallas, how astute. We really enjoyed seeing you and Megan (also for a change)and can now be thankful that you see your California home as a heart place also. You are loved.

  8. It sure was nice to see you both!
Coincidentally, during a prayer time with the Legters this weekend God showed us that the Legter children need not mourn the loss of Collinsville as their home but instead embrace the tremendous blessing of having two places to love and call home. I am confident that this mentallity will enable them to more fully embrace both locations.
